PAID INTERNSHIP – Marketing and Business Development Coordinator

Contract: one year with possibility of renewal
Wage: $33,800 per year. 40 hours/week

Laurentian Ski Hill is a sports/outdoor rec facility operating in the centre of North Bay for 90 years. It provides outdoor wintersport activity opportunities for all ages with a focus on learning for young children, youth and families. It offers lessons, rentals and camps to groups including schools, local organizations such as Children's Aid, the local Disabled Youth Program and Big Brothers and Sisters, as well as providing space and opportunities to the local Freestyle, Racing and Terrain Park groups. It hosts regional competitions for those groups as well as other special events. 

Eligibility

Candidates must have graduated within the past three years from an accredited university or college with a post-secondary degree/diploma in business administration, public relations or marketing. Qualified graduates able to demonstrate the required knowledge to meet the outlined expectations will also be considered. The position will be the first full time employment in the candidate’s field of study and they must be entitled to work in Canada.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, bilingualism an asset
  • Creative and energetic presentation skills
  • Excellent computer skills including web site maintenance and social media understanding
  • Ability to develop marketing plans
  • Customer service focus and ability to train others
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Police Check
  • Excellent organizational and reporting skills
  • Sales experience and/or ability an asset
  • Skiing or snowboarding ability a definite asset

Duties and responsibilities:

The Marketing and Business Development Coordinator will work closely with the Manager to learn the hill business in order:

  • To research new sales opportunities for the hill through tracking and maintenance of existing and newly developed sales information , to increase sales revenue
  • To develop a two year marketing plan with appropriate goal deliverables
  • To liaise with Operations Manager to learn about key aspects of operation in order to fulfill other duties 
  • To develop and implement new events and customer recognition opportunities
  • To develop, oversee and maintain all forms of marketing for the operation; web site, advertising, brochure, presentations etc.
  • To track and analyze current and potential pricing structures for increased revenue opportunities; to recommend and implement changes to take advantage of these
  • To liaise with community partners to promote sponsorship, group event and promotion opportunities; to increase sponsorship and event bookings
  • To create and implement off season community outreach events that increase exposure of business to community and region.
  • To monitor front desk sales for increased sales ideas; to recommend and implement these
  • To monitor all aspects of hill operations to increase focus on excellent customer service for all employees; to develop training and development program to ensure employee understanding and compliance 
  • To explore community partnerships that benefit the hill and those partners; to create new partnerships 
  • To increase exposure of the hill to surrounding areas and outside the region
  • To report to the Board of Directors regularly with reports and updates on above

Canadian Ski Patrol

The Laurentian Patrol are the local group of volunteers who patrol our hill, providing advanced first aid.  They are members of the Canadian Ski Patrol.
